As a hiring manager, finding the right fit for a role can be a challenge in today’s job market. Good candidates are scarce and you simply can’t afford to make a mis-hire. However, by using behavioral data, you can identify the right fit for a role and make a confident hire.
To find the right person for the HR Manager role, you need to ask the right questions. Behavioral interview questions can help you get right at the behaviors and competencies required for the role. Here are five interview questions to consider when hiring for an HR Manager:
Behavioural data is information that is collected about an individual’s behaviour. This data can include past performance, attitude, and aptitude. It can be collected through surveys, interviews, and other assessments. Collecting behavioural data can provide insights into a candidate’s skills and abilities, as well as their potential for success within a role.
This question seeks to identify the candidate‘s approach to recognition, and how often they do it. It will provide insight into the candidate‘s communication skills and whether they are a natural leader. The answer should show that the candidate values the accomplishments of their team members, and that they are willing to take the time to recognize them for their contributions.
This question seeks to uncover the candidate‘s expectations when it comes to managing others. It will provide insight into their understanding of the duties of a manager and the importance of trust and communication between a manager and their team. The answer should demonstrate the candidate‘s self–awareness, and how they approach creating a positive working environment.
This question is two–pronged, as it will reveal the candidate‘s work style as well as their consideration of others. It will show if they take into account the behavioral patterns of their team members, and if they are empathetic and compassionate when it comes to making decisions. The answer should demonstrate the candidate‘s ability to find a balance between their own needs and those of the team.
This question is meant to identify how the candidate approaches a situation where a coworker feels threatened. The answer should demonstrate their ability to remain level–headed and draw from multiple perspectives when addressing the issue. The candidate should also demonstrate their understanding of the importance of addressing the issue swiftly and professionally.
This question confirms the candidate‘s ability to lead with awareness of their own and others‘ communication behaviors. The answer should demonstrate the candidate‘s flexibility in adapting their own communication style to suit the needs of their team members, which will be beneficial for both the HR department and the entire organization. The answer should also show the candidate‘s understanding of how different communication styles can lead to better collaboration and team productivity.
