Are you using Glassdoor?

Glassdoor now gives job seekers, employees, and employers a deeper level of insight into the employee experience.  A host of insight is now available including company ratings, CEO ratings, salary breakdown, and common interview questions.

I ran a company comparison on Glassdoor this morning and found some interesting results:

Ratings (out of 5):

Overall:

Career opportunities

  • Roche = 3.7 | Novartis = 3.8

Senior Management

  • Roche = 3.5 | Novartis = 3.6

Culture & Values

  • Roche = 4.1 | Novartis = 4.2

Diversity & Inclusion

  • Roche = 4.2 | Novartis = 4.4

% Recommend to a friend

  • Roche = 88% | Novartis = 86%

Average Total Pay for UK:

The salary section for Glassdoor is a bit messy and needs a lot of work at accurately categorising job functions.  I could only find 2 positions which could be compared:

Medial Science Liaison

  • Roche = £60000 | Novartis = £60000

KAM

  • Roche = £70000K | Novartis = £75000

Employee feedback:

Pros

  • Roche = Great benefits | Novartis = Work environment

Cons

  • Roche = Senior Management | Novartis = Decision making

Featured review:

  • Roche = Feel valued | Novartis = Great culture

Vacancies:

Job postings (on Glassdoor):

  • Roche = 1067 jobs| Novartis = 1575 jobs

Interviewing

  • Roche
    • 68% had a positive experience.
    • 61% applied online, 9% recruiter, 8% employee referral.
    • Difficulty – average 3/5.
  • Novartis
    • 64% had a positive experience.
    • 46% applied online, 15% employee referral, 13% recruiter.
    • Difficulty – average 3/5.

Roche and Novartis compare well, which is a fair reflection. Strong employer branding is paramount to attracting the best talent and Glassdoor is now a major source of information for job seekers

Diversity and Inclusion is the latest feature available on Glassdoor.  Whilst it is a new feature, both companies so far have mixed feedback.

According to a Glassdoor Harris Poll survey, 75% of employees and job seekers report that a diverse workforce is an important factor when evaluating companies and job offers.

Good luck and take care,
